On November 10th Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) was joined by eight fellow Senate Banking Comittee Democrats in offering an 1,136 page, twelve title bill short titled, Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2009.
The proposal will begin being debated by the committee prior to the Thanksgiving recess and Senator Dodd hopes to see it passed out of committee in early December. Click here for the text of the entire bill.

The billed rapidly lost support in December 2009. Certain aspects of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency component of the bill appear to have survived in what probably be a Senate compromise with the House to try to facilitate passing H.R. 4173, the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009 which survived a close, party line vote.
